Alloyed tool steels
Tool steels are steels used in the manufacture of tools, moulds and standard parts. By using different alloying elements such as molybdenum, chromium or silicon and their compositions, special material properties can be achieved, depending on the intended use. Tool steels are used, for example, in the production of screwdriver blades, Allen wrenches, drill bits and cutting tools.
In the case of alloyed tool steels, a distinction is made between cold working steel and hot working steel. In the case of tools made of cold working steel, the surface temperature must not exceed 200°C during use, otherwise the hardness of the material may be reduced. If the surface temperatures rise above 200°C, high-alloy hot-working steels should be used which have the appropriate tempering resistance and thermal hardness.
Wilhelm Jungermann GmbH offers tool steels in various designs, depending on the area of application. These differ, for example, in terms of steel hardness, toughness, resistance against wear and workability.
