High-grade structural steels

In contrast to quality steels, stainless steels are designed for specific stresses. They are characterised by a higher degree of purity and as a result, they contain fewer non-metallic inclusions such as phosphorus and sulphur. High-grade structural steel is mainly used for highly stressed parts in the construction of plant and vehicles, but also for tools such as drills, screwdrivers and Allen keys.

High-grade structural steel is suitable for targeted heat treatment and as a result, it achieves higher strength and elasticity values that can be optimised for the respective application.

Wilhelm Jungermann GmbH supplies high-grade structural steel with the alloy elements chromium, nickel, molybdenum and vanadium, which are designed for high loads.

Properties of high-grade structural steel

  • High level of purity (few non-metallic inclusions)
  • Wear resistant
  • Very tough core
  • High level of elasticity (after quenching and tempering)

Applications of high-grade structural steel

  • Drill bits and cutters
  • Highly stressed parts in the field of vehicle construction (engines, gearboxes, springs)
  • Gear wheels
  • Screwdriver blades
  • Allen key
  • Pinion
