Heat-treatable steels

Quenched and tempered steels are non-alloyed or alloyed engineering steels that are suitable for quenching and tempering due to their chemical composition. By quenching and tempering (i.e. hardening and annealing) the steel achieves a high strength with a good level of durability in the core at the same time. In the quenched and tempered state, these steel grades are suitable for structural parts which need to have a high level of tensile strength and fatigue strength. These include screws, threaded rods, impact wrenches, axles, connecting rods, crankshafts and pinions.

Depending on the application, the desired properties of quenched and tempered steel are achieved by the material composition as well as the selected hardening temperature and quenching speed and/or the annealing temperature and annealing duration during the quenching and tempering process.

Wilhelm Jungermann GmbH offers quenched and tempered steels with a chromium-molybdenum alloy for the construction of machines and plant, as well as the construction of vehicles and aircraft.
