High-speed steels
High-speed steel (HSS) is the name given to high-alloy tool steels with a higher carbon content and a very high proportion of alloying elements (in part, over 30%). As a result of this composition, high-speed steel has special hardening properties, cutting properties as well as a very high resistance to heat and wear. These are optimally used in the production of cutting tools. High-speed steel is used, for example, as a cutting material for taps, milling cutters, saw blades and other high-performance tools.
Compared to alloyed tool steels, high-speed steels can be used in machine tools with up to 10 times the cutting speed. They can withstand the highest stresses as well as surface temperatures of up to 600°C.
Jungermann GmbH offers high speed steels in various versions. These differ in terms of the proportions of the respective alloy ellements and are accordingly optimised for various applications.
